About our church

Marshallese New Pentecostal Church Inc is the mother church of MNPCI. It was founded in Kailua-Kona so that Marshallese families in West Hawaii would have somewhere to worship, be taught, and belong.

How the church started

Pastor Nickson Alee and a small group of Marshallese families founded this church in Kailua-Kona. They were not trying to build something large. They were trying to build something that was missing.

Marshallese families have been putting down roots in West Hawaii for years, working, raising children, and living a long way from the islands they grew up on. What was missing was a church home where worship happened in their own language, where the Bible was taught plainly, and where the next generation had somewhere to belong.

So they built one. Services here run in Marshallese and English together, which means a grandmother and her American-born grandchildren can sit in the same row and follow the same sermon. There is preaching, prayer for families and the sick, altar calls for anyone who wants one, and afterwards, food.

From Kona, that vision traveled. There are now MNPCI congregations in Seattle and Spokane, Washington, and plans are underway for one in Arkansas. Kona is still the mother church.

Our mission

Worship with aloha. Teach with truth. Serve with love.

Everything we do flows from our love for God and for our neighbors in West Hawaii. We gather each week to worship, study Scripture together, pray for one another, and reach out to families in need across Kailua-Kona.

MNPCI congregations

What started with a handful of Marshallese families in Kona is now a network of congregations on the mainland. Each one was planted to give Marshallese families a church home in their own language.
